Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings
The objective of this investment scheme is the energy efficiency refurbishment of six hospitals located in Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Rhodes, Syros and Naxos.
Hospitals are large energy consumers as they work 24 hours/day, 365 days/year and because there are huge concerns regarding the indoor climate (temperature, humidity, air filtration). Most of these hospitals, except Rhodes, are very old buildings with insufficient systems.
It is necessary to increase the efficiency of their HVAC and domestic hot water systems, to renovate the windows, install insulation in the building envelope, replace lighting systems and install solar thermal panels in order to decrease energy consumption.
The project aims at saving more than 6 GWhs per year -which amounts to at least EUR 1,000,000 per year - while upgrading health services.
