The Region of South Aegean intends to examine the possibility of including in the investment program  the development of some additional PV systems in public buildings other than in the 6 hospitals already foreseen, for net metering and virtual net metering purposes. The objective of this action is to further enhance energy efficiency performance and distributed renewable energy.

 
Region of South Aegean intends to implement this action by making use of the energy communities’ framework that has been recently legislated through law 4513/2018, which allows Regions and municipalities either to set up or participate in energy community schemes aiming at developing RES investments for net metering and virtual net metering purposes. 

The selection of the relevant investments shall be made in order for the eligibility criteria of the Investment Program that can be supported by ELENA co-financing to be met, especially regarding the term of RES integration into the built environment, and any relevant action shall take place under the consideration of the European Investment Bank.
